When included in the system design and properly configured, an Ambit intercom call button can place a direct 911 call and provide room-level dispatchable location information.

That means responders can receive more than a school address. They can receive the location associated with the room where the call originated.

The same room-level information can also activate internal notifications through Ambit ALERT, helping administrators and safety personnel respond alongside 911.

Because Ambit is an FCC-licensed carrier, the intercom, phone system, 911 calling, and location data can be designed as one coordinated communication system.

Yes. Ambit’s intercom systems are premise-based, so core paging and emergency communication continue operating locally during an internet or cloud-service outage.

Can the intercom integrate with our VoIP phones?

Yes. Ambit IP intercom and VoIP phone systems can share the same communication platform, allowing authorized phones to initiate pages without managing two disconnected systems.

Can Ambit reuse our existing speakers and wiring?

New Ambit IP intercom installations use new speakers and cabling that Ambit can test, document, and support. Ambit does not build a new life-safety system on aging analog infrastructure it cannot verify. If your existing paging system still works reliably, Ambit may be able to connect a new VoIP phone system to its paging line without replacing the entire intercom. A walkthrough will determine which option is appropriate.

What does a school intercom system cost?

Cost depends on the number of buildings, speaker and call-button requirements, cabling routes, paging zones, and integrations. The campus walkthrough gives you a system design and realistic project scope based on your buildings, not a generic price range.

How long does installation take?

The schedule depends on campus size and project scope. Ambit plans installations with the district and can coordinate work around summer, holiday, or other low-disruption windows when possible.
