STIR/SHAKEN Compliance

Caller ID Authentication for Schools, Organizations, and Voice Carriers

Your Outbound Calls Need to Be Trusted. STIR/SHAKEN Is How That Happens.

Ambit Solutions is a fully compliant voice carrier operating within the FCC’s STIR/SHAKEN caller ID authentication framework — so your outbound calls are properly signed, authenticated, and trusted by the networks they travel across.

What STIR/SHAKEN Is

STIR/SHAKEN is the federal caller ID authentication framework created to fight illegally spoofed robocalls. It allows the phone company receiving a call to verify that the call is actually coming from the number displayed on caller ID.

In plain terms: it digitally signs outbound calls so downstream carriers know whether to trust them. For businesses and schools, this matters because calls that are not properly authenticated are more likely to be flagged, blocked, or labeled as spam — and never reach the people you are trying to reach.

We build in reliability from the start.

Why Your Organization Should Care

Your organization may already be affected if:

Parents are not answering calls from your school. Patients are missing calls from your office. Citizens are ignoring calls from a municipal number. Customers see “Spam Likely” instead of your business name.

The phone call is still one of the most important communication channels for schools, government offices, healthcare organizations, and businesses. If your calls are mislabeled or blocked, it affects operations, customer service, emergency communication, and public trust.

The Three Attestation Levels

Every signed call carries one of three attestation levels:

A — Full Attestation

The provider knows the customer and has verified they are authorized to use that caller ID. The highest level of trust.

B — Partial Attestation

The provider knows the customer but cannot fully verify authorization for that specific caller ID.

C — Gateway Attestation

The provider is passing the call along but cannot verify the customer or number. The lowest trust level.

When Ambit hosts your numbers and provides your SIP trunking, your calls are eligible for A-level attestation — the strongest signal of caller ID trust available.

STIR/SHAKEN Is Not Just a Switch You Flip

For a carrier like Ambit, becoming compliant meant working through a significant regulatory and operational process — filing in the FCC’s Robocall Mitigation Database, maintaining customer verification procedures, obtaining our own SPC token and certificate, managing number authorization, and keeping compliance documentation current as rules evolve.

Providers that fall out of compliance or are removed from the database risk having other carriers stop accepting their traffic entirely. That means your calls go down with them.

Ambit has done the carrier-grade compliance work so your organization does not have to manage any of it.

Why Number Ownership and SIP Trunking Matter

STIR/SHAKEN is closely tied to who owns and manages your phone numbers. When your numbers, SIP trunks, and phone system are fragmented across multiple vendors, caller ID trust becomes harder to manage and harder to troubleshoot.

When Ambit hosts your numbers and provides your SIP trunking, we have direct control over your voice path, number authorization, routing, and support. That creates a stronger foundation for compliant, trusted calling.

Questions to Ask Your Current Provider

If you are evaluating phone service or SIP trunking, these are worth asking:

Is my provider properly handling STIR/SHAKEN and robocall mitigation filings? Who hosts and controls my phone numbers? Can my provider verify I am authorized to use my outbound caller ID? What happens if my calls start showing as spam?

If your provider cannot answer these clearly, that is worth knowing.
